I’m excited to share that Casting for Recovery unveiled its annual online auction to support breast cancer patients, and the offerings are excellent. I met a representative from CfR earlier this year and happily agreed to donate a custom quilt to this auction. This is one of the organization’s biggest fundraisers of the year, supporting flyfishing retreats across the country. Retreats are offered at no-cost to breast cancer patients, thanks to this and other fundraisers. How cool is that?
In addition to a Quiltlove quilt (found in the Home and Decor category), you will find offerings ranging from fly-fishing experiences and gear, to food and wine baskets, to unique art and jewelry, and more. Check it out, and let’s bid it up!
How Casting for Recovery Supports Breast Cancer Patients
Casting for Recovery is a nonprofit organization that provides flyfishing retreats to support breast cancer patients. The retreats emphasize social connection among women, nature, and the therapeutic value of gentle casting. Furthermore, CfR offers an online “Pink Fly Club” to help retreat participants stay in touch over time. Through these and other programs, CfR improves the quality of life for women with breast cancer.
Learn more about Quiltlove’s support for Casting for Recovery, including my conversation with the Northern California Retreat Leader here. Importantly, CfR has a Platinum ranking on Guidestar and four stars on Charity Navigator.
Fun fact: CfR was founded in my home state of Vermont, minutes away from my grandparents’ home. I knew I liked them. 😉
About the Quiltlove Auction Item
Quiltlove makes custom quilts that contain patchwork squares with drawings, notes and photos submitted by you or your group. These quilts are an ideal way to wrap breast cancer patients in love and support.
The auctioned quilt can contain up to 15 custom squares that you submit. This could include squares with images such as photographs, messages, drawings, etc. Quilts are 49 x 67″, have a white sherpa backing, and are handmade.
As always, thanks for reading (and bidding!).
Warmly,
