With deep appreciation for the support, creativity, and love this community has shown over the years, I have made the difficult decision to close Quiltlove. It has been a beautiful and meaningful journey, in more ways than I can count. While closing this chapter is bittersweet, I have no choice but to celebrate the immense amount of love that Quiltlove has brought to the world.

Approximately 40% of my quilts have been for women undergoing treatment for breast cancer, and one of my proudest moments was creating a commissioned breast cancer patient quilt that is on display at the Alta Bates Comprehensive Cancer Center in Berkeley, California. From the pinkest pinks, to anything but pink, I’ve made breast cancer support quilts in every color of the rainbow. My first college internship was with the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer, and re-engaging with communities of bold, passionate, and hell-bent-in-the-best-possible-way breast cancer supporters through Quiltlove has meant the world to me. If you’re due for a mammogram, please schedule one.

Beyond that, I’ve created quilts to honor so many of the joyful, tender and heart-wrenching events that come along in the journey of life. The birth of a baby, first words, a move, a college send-off, an engagement, a marriage, a retirement, a 70th wedding anniversary, a 95th birthday, a devastating diagnosis, the loss of a loved one, home or pet. The list goes on. My social media posts may seem prone to hyperbole, but with every quilt, I have felt genuinely moved by the power of support networks. I have loved them all.

I am deeply grateful to everyone who has supported me along the way, including the generous, inspirational and mission-driven teams at Take Them a Meal, Give InKind, GiveWP, Making Strides, Going Beyond the Pink and My Cancer Chic; Dr. Rita Kwan-Feinberg, an early believer in breast cancer support quilts; expert photographer Mark Olesko; quilt-binding master, the Creative Seamstress a.k.a. Odma; the loving staff at George Mark Children’s House; my mom, aunt, and grandmother who endlessly supported my sewing; my patient, creative, and bright husband and our spectacular sons; and above all, my incredible CUSTOMERS, who shared my vision for a cozier world.

In the coming weeks, I will be joining a nonprofit organization in my local community as the Director of Special Projects, where I will be advancing their mission of supporting children and families through spearheading the launch of innovative solutions. I am over the moon about this position, and the opportunity to join a top-notch nonprofit team. I look forward to all that is to come.

A final thank you for reading, and for following along on this beautiful journey.

Warmly,
