In honor of the upcoming Colorectal Cancer Awareness month in March, I’m pleased to share a special partnership with the incredible nonprofit organization Fight CRC. Quiltlove will donate ten percent of proceeds from all colorectal cancer support quilts purchased by March 31, 2023 to Fight CRC. All you need to do is specify “colorectal cancer support” on your order form to join in the movement. Support your loved one, while supporting the cause. It’s a win-win!

Fight CRC is the leading patient advocacy group in colorectal cancer

I first learned about Fight CRC through Danielle Ripley-Burgess, after reading her incredible story on her self-titled blog. Danielle is a two-time colorectal cancer survivor, a phenomenal writer, and as genuine as can be. In addition, she plays an important role in Fight CRC’s critical communications and storytelling efforts.

Fight CRC is a top-ranked nonprofit organization that focuses on colon and rectal cancer research, treatment, and policy. The organization was founded in the early 2000s and prides itself on patient advocacy. Their research program trains colorectal cancer advocates to become the most educated patient voice at the research table.

Wrap a loved one facing colorectal cancer in a quilt

Colorectal cancer is the second-leading cause of cancer deaths in the United States. A diagnosis can bring a deluge of challenging emotions. Furthermore, it can be a difficult disease to talk about, and it can be challenging for friends and family members to know how to show their support.

A group quilt is a heartfelt way for people to come together, and wrap someone facing colorectal cancer in their love. An organizer simply selects the quilt colors and timeline, and everyone in the group can buy their squares independently. I’ve linked to some of my favorite blue-based color palettes below. You can even make the quilt extra special by choosing a personalized theme, such as the recipient’s favorite phrases, symbols or verses, and asking everyone to incorporate this element into their squares.

Oftentimes a cancer patient will have something that embodies their experience—a word, phrase, symbol, hashtag or verse—that they rally behind…If you can discover what’s keeping them going and write it on a card, or get something made with it, it means the world.

Quiltlove creates custom quilts. Get a group together to show a survivor you care. This can be a really personal and meaningful gift!

Quilts are backed with sherpa fabric and weigh about four pounds, making them ideal for snuggling, in a cold hospital setting or at home. In addition, the colorful squares from friends and relatives will be a lasting and warm reminder of their support network during periods of isolation.

Spread the word, spread the love

I would love your help with spreading the word about my ten percent colorectal cancer support giveback commitment. Let’s spread the love this Colorectal Cancer Awareness month, and beyond.

As always, thanks for reading.

Warmly,
